I guess this is for more for people who believe in Heaven, but when you die, do you think you are empowered to know everything (what peolpe are saying, peoples thoughts, past mistakes by people and so on)?
If you could zero in on say one person? Edit: Or if you could hear someone if they are specifically talking to you (say me telling Allison I miss her and love her?) |
| I have given some thought to what happens after you turn room temperature since my doctor told me that I only have 2 to 5 years left unless I get lucky and get a liver transplant. I would like to think you get to hang out with your family and loved ones that went before you, I lost my parents at a young age. I miss them. I would also like to think that you get to do all of the fun things that you really could not do while alive. Like activities like hang out on a beautiful white tropical beach or eat huge hamburgers and steaks and lots of pies and stuff like that. Kind of like that movie from the 70's with Albert Brooks. I hope you get to look after the family and friends you leave behind, like a guardian angel. I'm sure I am thinking too small here and the last thing that would be important to you would be a hamburger. |

From http://www.gotquestions.org:
The Bible does not specifically say whether people can look down on us who are still on the earth. It is highly likely that they cannot. Why? First, they would sometimes see things that would cause them grief such as witnessing us sinning. Since there is no grief, tears, or unhappiness in heaven, watching the sinning world would be grievous to them. Second, people in heaven are so preoccupied with worshipping God and enjoying the glories of heaven that they truly have no interest in what is happening here on earth. The very fact that they are free from sin and in God’s presence is enough for them to be happy. While it is possible that God allows people in heaven to look down upon their loved ones, the Bible gives us no reason to believe this actually occurs.
gunslinger44, I sincerely hope that you get that liver transplant. |

When you are in Heaven you are in the complete presence of God. You will know everything, ( I really would like to know and see how a curve ball works, btw) and at the sametime because you are in the presence of so much love, will no longer be concerned over earthly things. (except the curve ball thing |

. Not exactly true. The bible says that all of heaven rejoices when a soul is saved. |

I know why you ask this, and I am sorry for your loss.
However, we as Christians get our information about Heaven from the Bible. Nothing in the Bible even hints that we will have any ability to "know everything". God knows everything, because He is Omniscient and Infinite. But even in Heaven, I will still be Finite, not Infinite. I may know "more", but I will not know "all". There is also no mention in the Bible of those who are gone before us being able to "see" us or even to know what we are doing. As has already been mentioned, such an ability might bring sadness to a place where there is none. Your best hope of telling your lost love that you love her, is to accept Jesus as your Savior, and then, some day, you can tell her in person. I will remember you in my prayers. |

"There is no death. Only a change of worlds."
- Native American saying (from the Duwamish tribe). OP: I take it that is Allison in your avatar photo? My condolences on your loss. I hope the above Native American spiritual saying will give you comfort. <<<––-Deeply interested in Native American spirituality, about the only kind of "religion" I can feel connection with. |

I can give you Biblical account of what the dead experience:
When you die it's like shutting off a computer, removing the hard drive for storage then chucking the rest in a landfill (dust to dust). The HDD (the spirit) knows nothing till it's put into a new computer(body) and rebooted again. The Bible states specifically that no one has seen the kingdom of heaven and that the dead know nothing. Essentially, everyone that's died from the beginning of time is still dead and are completely unaware of anything or the passage of time. |
|
Quoted:
I have a question about pets. I heard my mom one time tell her cat who was dying that when she got to heaven, she would look for him. What about people who have owned dozens even hundreds of pets in their lifetime? Are you responsible for all your pets? There is nothing in the Bible that would even indicate that animals go to Heaven. So, no. |

There are even stories in the Bible which tell of people in Heaven and their interactions. Look at the story of the beggar Lazarus. |

Animals were given to Man for sustenance and companionship; two Earthly concepts not pertinent to Heaven. |
