In the last three months I have had 3 important pieces of mail lost by the postal service. One was a credit card payment that ended up costing me $39.00 in late fees! I have talked to the local postmaster who had a I don't give a sh*t attitude. Anyone else having these problems? |

I lost a package through them about 2 weeks ago...was a barrel sold to another member on the EE...had to call the manufacturer and order a new one and significantly more cost to me sold to him... It sucks, but I will probably end up doing more shipping through FedEx in the future... |

not to crap in your thread, but have you ever heard of online banking? I haven't had a bill in the mail in years This. You might want to try an isolate where the problem is. I started mailing important mail (like bill payments and the like) at the drop off box at the Post Office for fear that stuff was getting lost between my mail box and the Post Office itself. This did help some. However, I mailed a package to someone in Tennessee about a year ago. The package was lost for 2 months until it showed up one day. The package was not damaged in any way and had the correct address on it. I have started using the Delivery Confirmation option or certified mail for anything important these days that goes through the US Mail. As Bugalaman said above, I strongly suggest that you check out on-line banking. When the power was out here for 2 weeks after Hurricane Ike, on-line banking worked like a dream (if you could find a way to get into it!!!). Good luck mate. |

The shitty attitude of the Post Master is inexcusable, but the USPS delivered 21,063,175,000 pieces of first class mail alone in July, August, September 2008.
Total pieces of mail moved in those three months was 35,706,272,000. That's almost 12 billion pieces per month. Almost 400 million pieces per day. They're bound to lose some with that quantity moving around. |

They're bound to lose some with that quantity moving around. A news report not too long ago stated the postal service was delivering millions of pieces less mail than a few years ago. That was the reason they kept raising their rates to make up for the lost volume of mail. And their service keeps getting worse and they are paying the postmaster general over $700,000 a year salary and benefit package. Come on, this is a damn shame! Everyone in my area complains about shitty service and lost mail, I know of one business that mailed over 800 pieces in one mailing and they lost it all! |
