Would you ever move into a home in which the previous family was violently murdered?

Sure, why not?

Do you have the opportunity? What sparked the question?

I'm currently waiting to see if I am approved for enough to buy a house where the last owner hanged herself from the front porch.  Does that count?

It's a 3 bed, 2 bath with large living room, kitchen/dining room, and a large family room.  Also has a 30x40' shop behind it.  Only asking 44k for it.  It is a foreclosure but since the owner is dead I don't think they will contest it.  At least not in the normal ways...

I'm glad to live in a house where nobody has died.

I had a thread on this subject up about a year or two ago.

Are you familiar with the book/movie IN COLD BLOOD?  It is the true story of the home invasion murder of the entire Clutter family (Herb, Bonnie, Nancy, and Kenyon) by two robbers in 1959.

Well, the house where that happened was on the market about two years ago.  Asking price was $280,000 or so.

Supposedly there are still faint bloodstains on the wall in the basement.

I wouldn't live in that damn place if they were giving it away free.

I am not supersticious. People have died everywhere.

The Clutter Family

Something that occurred that long ago (1959) probably wouldn't bother me as much as something more recent.  But I can't imagine the crimescene cleanup was up to par with today's method––you tear up the floorboards, and I'm sure you'll still find brain matter in the cracks.
