Is there anyway to reinforce an existing window to make it security rated? I've heard about a film by 3M, but I looked, and they seem to have several window films, which is the right one?, and how much is it? I also saw Polycarbonate inserts at Home Depot, that install over the outside of the window kind of like a storm window, but couldn't a thief just pop that off?, or is there something secure holding it on that I'm not seeing? Does anyone make a pre made security replacement window with Polycarbonate instead of glass?, how about a reinforced frame?
On a related subject does anyone make security shutters? I've been looking online, but all I've seem look like the very very obvious commercial type, and usually have the mounting hardware/controls on the outside, that kind of defeats the purpose, I want the shutters on the inside, and I want them to look completely innocuous, does anyone make anything like that? Window bars just look like shit, and make me feel like I'm living in the ghetto, and are also very obvious. Basicly is there a way to make my windows smash/tamper proof? |

Look at hurricane shutters/films. There are many diferent types, my BIL has a company here. That's something that I was looking at, but I don't know what film to get, and the only hurricane shutters I saw stuck out like a sore thumb, and had all the operating parts on the outside, how about those ones? |

easy, talk to a company that handles this, we are not your best source on this.
I would say call a company in Florida. they will handle hurricain windows. or call a window company in Detroit, they handle crime prevention more than anyone else. always seek out the industry experts, ARFCOM just think we are.
