I try to underpay every year … no way in hell am I going to count on getting extra money that I send to these guys back, especially now that places like CA are starting to send out IOU's for tax returns.

I'm anticipating owing around 500-600 and will do everything I can to whittle that amount down.

It will go in the bank account, it will not be targeted for any special item.

Money goes into the pile, when money it spent it is removed from the pile.  There are no seperate piles for special items.

I need to file soon

For a change I actually expect to get money back this year.
Redoing one of the bathrooms and maybe some other small improvements on the house...maybe drop a little toward the mortgage principal.

Nothing flashy...no new toys...just some practical investments.
Maybe a steak dinner somewhere nice, but thats about it.

you'll spend more on that kid than you'll EVER get in deductions...I love to hear all my friends with kids bragging about their fat tax return check while they spend thousands each year feeding and housing their children. I'm getting back 800 this year and its going towards principal reduction on my Jeep payment.last year I owed 5600 dollars!

It was going to pay for granite counter tops.  Now it's going to my CC to pay off the new roof .  Ahh, to be living in an apartment again.  I'd be friggin' loaded.

Just like my annual bonus was going to buy a  Trek Madone 5.5.  Then the bonus pool got eliminated.  Thank you, Ken Thompson!

My "refund" is gonna get carried forward to my next quarter's estimated tax liability.  (I'm "self-employed").

BTW, The "return" is the form you fill out.  The "refund" is the money you get back.

Fellas, a tax RETURN is the form you send the government.  A REFUND is what you get when they took too much out during the year.

Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

If you get something called a "savings account", you can not only get that fuzzy feeling any day of the year, you can also get paid interest while doing it !!!

I just spent about $350 of it on some suspension parts for my Mustang.  I am keeping the rest, around $1200 for when I go to the Wanemacher Gun Show, in Tulsa, in April.

I did my taxes tonight and the wife and I will get around $1100 back so far. I'm holding off, though, for the following:

1) We have been shopping for our first home and would like to take advantage of the $7500 first time homebuyer tax "credit" (loan) - if we can close by 04/15/09 of course
2) I heard part of the upcoming stimulus package will include a $1000 tax credit for married couples

Any truth to number 2?

ETA: All of the above would probably go into home improvements in said property to be purchased

Haven't done the taxes yet but I have a rough idea of my refund:  Going towards a trip out to my daughter's college for graduation and some extra cash for her.

I ain't done my taxes yet, but I'd be okay with them not owing me nothing, and me not owing them.

If I do get something back, it goes into savings.  I'm trying like hell to save, save, save this year.

High interest savings account.

Will later be spent on something I don't need, probably either electronics or alcohol. (OK I kind of do need those)

I got a bit more back than I anticipated due to a job change mid year, so half will go towards a new firearm of my choosing, and I will bank the other half. The firearm will not be very extravagant.

Damn...you could have bought that stuff already if your withholdings were higher (I set mine to 9).

As another posted stated, with California giving out IOUs, do you REALLY want to give negative interest loans to any government?

Tax return...

Haven't had one of those in many years.  We will be paying in an additional $6XXX.xx this year.

Needless to say, we are huge proponents of the fair tax.
