I love how these stories start out –– "XX percent of Americans say this or that", and then later you find out it wasn't a percentage of Americans at all - it was a percentage of the 900 people they polled. There are what? Over 300 million Americans? I'm an American and I don't remember them asking me. Did they ask you? Probably not. My point is, shit like this is exactly that - shit. Even the people they polled didn't say anything in particular - they merely selected from a group of pre-written answers. This stuff - just like during the elections - is all about pushing ideas through polls. The people doing them believe if we see everyone else jumping off a bridge, we will follow, because we are only sheep. Sadly, in some cases they are correct. But I personally never put any stock into what "Americans" supposedly say according to the latest poll. |
