I think this might be an interesting topic to get feedback on...
The question is, who here carries when they go to the gym, and if so how?
I normally carry a 1911 Commander IWB, but when dress dictates I carry a S&W 638 in a front pocket holster. I think the J frame might be the way to go for gym trips. How about you guys, do you carry to the gym? If so what, and how? Do you carry it in your gym bag, or on your person? Would you rather lock put it in your locker, or leave it in the vehicle? |

That is scary, glad I did not have to explain that to his superiors.
If there is one thing I am anal about is my weapon when I carry, I never forget that it is a huge responsibility. My thinking is that I would NOT carry on the belt, it would either be in gym bag, or in front pocket of pants and would not leave those locations unless there was a 'need' for it to do so. Leaning towards pants carry, unless you leave your pants, good to go. |

Be careful and please remember to take your gun with you. We had a Federal Air Marshal leave his sidearm, badge, and wallet at the LA Fitness, and when he realized that he forgot them they were already gone into the ether. I hope he wasn't issued a new sidearm and badge after that incident. |

These things happen. I don't carry at the gym....it either stays home or in the lockbox in the car. I work out at a really nice place, but I don't dare go into the locker room...I am in the front door, do my thing, then go home to get ready for work. |

I also have some concern of the locker being broken into, as far as carrying the weapon while working out in the gym, I have NO interest whatsoever in doing that.
When I am working out, the last thing I want to worry about, or have to deal with is a concealed handgun. Edit: Update, my personal reason for carrying to gym is the trip to and from the gym, do not see a real need to be armed IN the gym, I am sure others feel different. |

Kel Tec P3AT in Smartcarry/Thunderwear.
Goes over Nike compression shorts, under Champion athletic shorts (w/ pockets ... Spyderco Endura and Surefire E2e clipped to the pockets). I need to find a place to chrome my slide though, the sweat is starting to rust the finish. |

I keep mine in my gym bag, locked in a locker. |

I leave mine in the car while in the gym ![]() Yea, to me its crazy to leave it on a locker there since they are often broken into and I dont want to deal with it while working out. in my Gym's area, your car is more likely to be broken into then your locker. I think we'd notice someone walking in with a large pair of bolt cutters. |

Second only to a gun shop or shooting range. And if you're lifting properly, a fanny pack is going to get in the way. If you're worried about getting assaulted at your gym, perhaps it's time to switch |

There are no "safe" places. You see that woman on the treadmill next to you? Did you know that she got an order of protection because her ex-boyfriend told her he was going to use his Glock to kill her and everybody around her? |

I work out in cargo shorts, I still carry, but I may downsize to my xd-9 sub compact at the most. if they get banged up, sweated on, or just plain wet, that just what they have to deal with. I send em back to springfield to get refinished and overhauled.
xd's are cheap, my life––- not so much |
