Water injection pump stuck in the on position today while I was driving in vacuum. Engine started to stutter and AFRs dropped to 7:1 and I shut her off. I pulled the plug on the pump and restarted the car and revved it, BIG plume of steam out the tailpipe (no cats).

Idle took about 15 seconds to stabilize and the fuel mixture to return  to normal.

Did I break anything?

Car runs fine now.

Probably not.  If it keeps it up, you might just from the sputtering - head gasket maybe?.  But I don't think anything would have been trashed since you got it started and everyting stabilized as it should.

Hydrolock refers to bending rods out of shape from TRYING to compress fluids like water or gasoline/alcohol. If it ran at all after it shut off then hydrolock is not an issue. Sounds like you just got enough liquid in the cylinders where the mixture would not light. SS
