Greetings from Maine- Longtime lurker, just got my password.
I have a Bushmaster M4A3 on order from my local gun store (10 miles from the Bushmaster plant). I originally ordered a complete lower back in Nov. but after a month & a half I was told Bushmaster is putting their focus on complete rifles so a receiver would be a longer wait. I changed my order. ( I already have a preban Colt so I'm not totally without) If any kind of AWB goes through before I get my M4, would that snarl things? Possibly a dumb question but I haven't seen any threads relating to this. Anyone in the know??? |

If any kind of AWB goes through before I get my M4, would that snarl things? Possibly a dumb question but I haven't seen any threads relating to this. To me, it seems highly unlikely that an AWB would suddenly make its way through both houses of Congress and make it to Obama's desk and be signed in the near future (i.e. the first few months of his administration) - when they appear to have much more pressing issues to deal with. You know, all that spending that's going to save the economy, and all those jobs that the government will create out of thin air. Oh yeah, and then Obama's going to fix the Middle East.
Will they eventually get around to it? Nobody knows. There're reasons to think they might not, but there are reasons to think they will. Only time will tell. That said, if some new AWB ban of some form is signed into law BEFORE your rifle is delivered to your dealer and transferred to you, then yes, it would be covered by whatever the new law is. It doesn't matter when you placed the order - all that matters is when the transfer (and the 4473) takes place. So if for example a California-style AWB were passed, you'd be unable to buy that Bushmaster if it arrived at your dealer the day after such a law was signed in. DK's got it. Spot on. |
