I've been hearing advertisements on the radio for a place selling "roof de-icing systems"?
Anyone know if these things work worth a shit? My senior citizen widow mother lives a state away and is always complaining how her house has big ice damns built up on the roof. She's worried that it's going to develop a leak. I told her the only real solution is go get more insulation blown into the attic to stop the heat loss from melting snow on the roof. Is that true? (I think it is) Are heating systems like this: http://www.warmzone.com/RoofDeicing/RoofDeicing.asp worth a crap? It seems like they'd be a big waste of money given the electric costs in running one. |
