A friend says he was pulled over near Fredricksburg for speeding. Dont know who pulled him. He says as the officer approached the window, he stuck out his liscense, ccw permit , and registration. The officer pulled his sidearm and asked to see the firearm in the vehicle. The officer secured my friends pistol while the traffic ticket was filled out. Then the officer had my friend to exit the vehicle. The officer then reloaded the pistol, chambered a round, and handed it back to my friend, grip first. Is this standard protocol? I think my friend tends to stretch the truth sometimes. Should you even tell the officer about your permit or pistol when pulled for a basic traffic stop? Of course if you have to step outside the car for a "routine" search ,then you should go ahead and offer the info. What is the recommended protocol?

in Ohio it is the law that you tell the LEO about your CCW

after that I advocate doing as they request (and not getting arrested or shot)
