There's been a lot of back and forth over what the Obama Administration and the 111th Congress (and beyond) will do regarding gun control. Some say that there will be, some say that there won't be, some say that others on this board seem to be hoping for it. So, let's have another motown_steve poll!!!
What do you believe will happen? ETA - My opinion is "Probably, but I'm not sure". IF they decide to go for one then I don't think that we can stop it this time. The Democrats are running the whole show and the Republicans have almost no recourse. I also put absolutely no faith at all in these so called "Pro-Gun Democrats". I think that when the party puts pressure on them they will fold like cheap suits. I also KNOW that Obama absolutely hates the idea of armed citizens and will use the power of his office to help push an Assault Weapons Ban. He has blatantly declared it among his domestic agenda items. I am a member of the NRA and the GOA. I believe that the NRA will do everything that they can to fight it, but I really don't believe that there is much that they can do in the current political climate. The Dems hate the NRA and love the Brady Bunch. Who is the NRA going to go to? They themselves don't have a vote. We saw all kinds of anti-gun legislation pass under Clinton. The Assault Weapons Ban, the NICS system, the Lautenberg Amendment. We saw the rise of the frivolous lawsuits against gun makers, the pressure on gun makers to install trigger locks and develop smart guns, the gun sweeps in public housing and the elimination of more than half of the FFLs in this country. I am bracing for more of the same. |
