What do you think?

Particularly the combat units.

Infantry, Armor and Artillery.

Seem to have done a great job in Iraq around Bassra and seem to be doing it all in Afgan, especially in Helmand.

Talking to them is kind of funny.

They talk like sissies, but are tough as nails.

It is my opinion (as a former Brit for close to 30 years with a brother who put in 20+ years in the army) that the British army is close to the best in the world but has two major problems:

1) The senior officers and political leadership are a bunch of pussies.
2) Most of the squaddies joining up have no experience outdoors or with firearms and need to learn everything from scratch.

American and British infantry and marines are without a doubt the best trained and most professional in the world.

I have no idea who is "best" - (and it probably varies from unit to unit) but the Brits are right up there.  Paras and Royal Marines are at the very top of the game.

Same in America, but that can be a good thing.

It's a way of saying "you're a good friend".

I've trained with their artillery several times.  Once with 7th RHA twice with other artillery units.  They all used the L118, their original version of our current M119A2(105mm howitzer).

Damn good people to work with.  7RHA impressed the heck out of me, they kew what they were doing.  The unit we worked with in Turkey was great as well.  The Territorial(reserve guys) battery we worked with up in England was OK––kind of how you would expect a reserve unit to be.  You could tell they had not shot a lot.

Overall, I found working with the British Army very satisfying.  However, their version(I think it's NATO's) of the call for fire was all ass backwards.
