Hey guys, I need some info please on how to handle this. I had a membership to Global Fitness gym that was setup so that I could cancel at anytime. When I had lost my job back in August, I contacted them to have the account cancelled and stop withdrawing the $30 and change a month from my debit card/checking account that I held with BoA. At this point, I basically kept enough money in the account to not have it closed and keep a positive balance. I have been very happy with BoA in the past and use them as my primary account online. I noticed that Friday I was charged for $34.00 from Global Fitness Gyms and then at about 10:00 tonight I got a notice that a second withdrawl was pending in the amount of $103.72. I immediately tried to call into BoA but missed the office hours by more than a few minutes so I will have to call them tomorrow. Has anyone ever had a company setup on a recurring cycle that you cancel continue to bill your account and what did you do to stop it and have the funds returned??? As I am still yet unemployed, money is of course a little tighter and every dollar does count. If I could have afforded this then I would have continued to gone to the gym. What is the process for disputing a debit/charge card transaction? And are there any fees involved to have this stopped?? Thanks for any helpful info. Joey |

You will need to contact the gym first and tell them to refund it, if they dont play then go to BoA and request action telling them you cancelled service and after this was charged you requested that the gym refund it and they said no (they always say no) BoA will issue a temp credit and send you some forms to fill out so thay can investigate.. Its NO garuntee they wont reverse those temp credit if they find in favor of the gym..
(i have BoA and have had to do this before) |
| Was the cancellation in writing, if its verbal there just yanking your chain. Also make sure you can cancel at any time, there's always the fine print. From all the fraud charges I ever had they are very easy to contest but for me they were never anything I ever signed up for. |
