We have a pet rat - lots of fun and cute as hell. A guinea pig would be too big... So I would say either a rat, some dwarf hamsters, a tarantula, or a baby iguana. (obviously he would need an upgraded environment after some time)
My brother has a little iguana. I love that thing! I stick him in my shirt and he snuggles between the bunnies and goes to sleep. heehee. |

I love my turtle. He's a turtle that just lives in a tank, all you have to do is feed him, change the water every so often.
VERY low maintenance. Quoted:
putting a furry pet in a small glass enclosed tank wouldn't give them the freshest of air or much room to run around, so I vote fish or frogs... I agree. If you're going to get a rodent, ie a hamster or guinea pig, get a wire cage. BTDT as well. |

They're awesome pets, but you have to make sure a child is old enough to know how to properly handle one. Elmyra comes to mind... Fish are perfect. |

I had one for many years. Great pets (as far as lizards go). |

For a 10 gallon tank a Pac-Man frog would be kinda cool.
