I've been hearing about this little mini-series from a co-worker, and wondering if it's worth the $40 or so bucks for the DVD set?? Not seen or read any previews on it or anything.  What do you guys think is it well made, accurate, worthy of arfcom approval

It sucked about as hard as the first time I got a paper cut in the web of my fingers.

I liked it so much I read the book and then read "One Bullet Away" by Nate Fick - one of the Marines in the show.

EDIT: I mean one of the Marines portrayed in the show.

I loved it.  Book was better but the show was great.  Lots of shooting and one of the few shows that depicts IR lasers and NVGs being used together.

Two of the actors on the show were the actual Marines the show is based on.

Great sniper scene.

Many of the guys here love it and claim it is not anti-war despite the vast majority of people who wrote, produced, and directed the show being card carrying liberals.

I thought it was ok.  If you can watch it for free and have nothing better to do then go for it.  Otherwise I’d say pass.

I watched about 3 episodes. I felt it was anti-war and they did some really stupid, inaccurate shit portraying the military. I thought it was terrible. Then again, I was in the army, so I know stupid when I see it.

I did feel like they basically portrayed soldiers, and the iraq war, in a negative light.

Its what happened hell two of the Marines who fought there act in the show one as himself.  "Ice Man" Sgt Colbert was one of the advisers for the show.  It followed the book for the most part,  Great look at the enlisted mans view.

Its a true story and a number of the Marines that were there are advisors or actors on the show.  I also read "One Bullet Away" by Nate Fick after reading Generation Kill.

Great show.

And that changes the fact that the vast majority of people who wrote, produced, and directed the show are card carrying liberals because ....

I own both books and got the series a couple of weeks ago for my b-day.  I enjoyed it, great sniper scene.  My wife was bored- thought there wasn't enough action.  According to the books, they were only in a few good scrapes.  I enjoyed it.

its not worth 40 bucks..

sorta pointless...

supposedly what its like to be in the army in iraq.. but it makes the point that iraq was a waste of time (this my take on this)..

rent it at a video store.. you're only gonna wanna see it once..

eta.. the sniper scene.. yep that was prolly the best part of the whole thing..

Please cite your source for this or stop with your bullshit, sir.

The guy who wrote it has BTDT.  I'd say he has a little more credibility than you Mr. Card-Carrying-Internet-Tough-Guy #2823454237.

Meh it was decent.  I got it for free though, we whore DVDs around quite a bit in my platoon.  I enjoyed it more than I enjoy starting at the wall of my tin can.
