Most gunshows are apparently a place where people to to show off the stuff they don't want to sell for anything approaching a reasonable price.

Today I finally had a little luck at a gunshow.

I scored a pristine, unfired, still in cosmoline  Colt Model 603/XM16E1 complete upper receiver assembly, complete minus only the bolt and bolt carrier.

It has a forward assist (teardrop style button) and no case deflector.

At retroblackrifle.com,  this model is identifed and the only variations I can see is that (1) my barrel is marked "C MP CHROME BORE"  and the FSB forging has the bell and C stamps.

The Colt acceptance and proof stamps are on it forward of the trapdoor.

Upper forge marks are C and H.     Flash hider is A1 birdcage type.

Large amounts of cosmoline are still present and it has no wear, and practically no handling marks.  It is unfired since proofing.

I paid 250 dollars for it.

On the down side,  Anvil Arms wasn't present at this show, though they were scheduled to make it.   I guess there's no point in showing up when they probably are completely out of stock.   Another time.

And in other news,  I saw an item that made me think "Gee, that's probably not quite legal."  But I want it anyway.

Some wiseass made a complete Mark III Sten gun into a LAMP.   Buttplate welded to a steel plate.  Standing vertically.  Bulb socket and lamp shade attached to the barrel.

The action appeared to be functional and not compliant with BATFE requirements for demilling a non-registered machinegun.

400 bucks takes it.     Cute as hell.

I want it.  But it's not worth the possible penalties.

Gun show people need to realize if they're not selling every gun they have at the last few shows, their prices are way too high.

After my buddies report from the Ft. Worth show, sounds like the fools still don't understand. The place was wall to wall yet the prices are high and nobody but the fools are buying.

You have the option of making money or not. I don't get it. These guys are going to sit on inventory instead of selling off at a reasonable price point.

I have seen the same firearms on the same dealers tables for sale at high prices for years at the gun shows here.

They seem to think if they buy a firearm at $400, and sell it at $800 15 years later, they scored.
