I couldnt beleive it! I bought a thousand  of those cheaper Italian 209 shotgun primers (28.00 bucks) ata  gunshow today and when I opened the box it had an expiration date of  2.8.64  on the upper inside flap!
Well I guess I'm good to go for almost the next 50 years!

FWIW, I still have some CCI primers I bought in the 70's that still go bang

if that's really an expiration date 2.8.64 is really 8/2/64 American style

It really was an experation date it said "Expires", the box and each primer pack had a lot number...so it was an expiration date!
Now I dont think thaey will  automatically go inert after 50 years, but damn its the wierdest shit I have ever seen on ammunition/components
Sorry guys not 1964, its too recent of manufacture for that
