| well it's official. in order to keep my current job i have to take a $170 a week pay cut due to "restructuring." That means I gotta hit one of the tech stores and hope for $10 an hour for both my off days to make up for it. or find something else. i'm pissed. |

That means I gotta hit one of the tech stores and hope for $10 an hour for both my off days to make up for it. or find something else. i'm pissed. If anyone told me I had to take a "pay cut", I'd smile and nod and say "Gee, that sucks"... and be immediately looking for a new job. Not a supplemental job... to get out of that one as quickly as possible. Both on general principle as well as the fact that that indicates a very, very serious problem... they're either in big money trouble, or they're looking to get you to quit instead of laying you off (so you can collect UI and maybe pay severance). Good luck. I was canned on the 5th, and I just signed an offer letter for a much better job. There is work out there, but you need to really stand out. You ought to make a post looking for any recruiters on ARFcom, or if you know any IRL, and ask for help in polishing up your resume. |
| Fortunately we only lost 3 people from our department. compared to atlanta's 400 two months ago. also we are increasing our pricing again, and lowering our package content. I hate our town/region. I really want to move out west i think. like montana, colorado, ohio, dakota's area. don't what the job market looks like out there, but if i don't get out of alabama i'm going to scream. I almost considered taking 6 months of unemployment so i could get into a technical school and get some certifications. then i remembered that that's partially paid with our tax dollars, so i'll just go at night. |
