As soon as the rain stops, somebody at the water dept. will say "we are still in a state of drought" or "we are still below normal rainfall".

I remember a couple of decent snow storms when I lived between Lancaster/Palmdale back in the late '80's.

I remember living in Palmdale and around 1991 or so the whole valley was shut down because of the 5-6 inches of snow that fell

I Colorado we just leave for work a few minutes early when there is 6 inches of snow on the street

Where are all of the people in Lancaster and Palmdale?

Years ago, when I drove trucks, I'd always get a kick out of going to Edwards.  You pass a sign, "Now entering Lancaster, population 100,000-something"  Look around, and it's empty desert.  Where the fuck is everybody?

Doesn't the ground soak up any of it? Nobody down there uses wells to get water out of aquifers?

Used to live off a well in Acton (between Santa Clarita and Palmdale).

It went from 4GPM to 0.2GPM in one year. We moved. Most of the people around us had the same issue, but there were those who were still getting 20GPM and even a few up to 100GPM wells.

As I recall it usually ran right down the concrete "California River" or whatever they called it, more often than not, taking a few of our Mexican guests along with it.

Did you not believe it when they say when SE Texas is near the top of rainfall totals in the continental United States?

What's a snow shovel? Hell, what's snow. They shut the 14 freeway down for snow. My wife and kids are now stuck down below for at least tonight.

Meh. It has been raining here but since it is the beach we don't flood much.
