Total newb, just realized I didnt need anything special to hook the damn thing up to wireless

Bottom line is...

There were three options for security.

None
WEP
and something else that I couldn't remember.

For the time being to see if it worked...I just chose none.  It then told me there was an update to get my PS3 to version 2.3 or something like that, so I'm going through the painfully slow process of doing that.  To sign on to our wireless network at the house, I guess there is no password, so its open but with very limited range...and I live around all old people who barely even know how to operate a microwave.

Should I use one of these security things with my PS3?  If so, which one...and sadly enough...how the hell do I use it?  I really know NOTHING about this wireless stuff, and hate to admit even though im 23, I'm wayyy behind in the technology department.  Hell, I've never done online gaming, so I'm really just kinda...well, doin whatever.

Thanks guys,
Scott

Use WEP even though you live next to elderly people that doesnt matter.

Now WEP has many different configurations i use the 64 bit which is a 64 character password it can be hacked but they must want your interwebZ really bad but pick something easy to remember.

Keep It Simple Stupid.

WPA2 Preshared Key (WPA2-PSK) is going to be your best option.  Log on to your wireless router, set a passphrase in the router, set the same one in your PS3.

WEP can be broken in less than 2 mins, granted it is better than nothing.  If you have the option to use WPA then use that, it hasn't been cracked.....yet.
