Ford should dump the Mercury brand
Chrysler should dump the Plymouth brand. GM Sell off SAAB if they can. If not keep it. (I love SAAB's) Keep Chevy as it's main brand and use either Buick or Cadillac as they're higher end model like all the Japanese manufacturers do (Honda\Acura). That's my suggestion. |

Ford should dump the Mercury brand Lincoln dealers couldn't survive without the Mercury brand. Lincoln dealers should pull their heads out of their asses and carry more brands. For example, the dealer I bought my Saab from carried Honda, Volvo, Saab, and Kia. |

For example, the dealer I bought my Saab from carried Honda, Volvo, Saab, and Kia. They wouldn't be Lincoln dealers in that case, at least not for very long. Sure, the dealership itself would flourish, but the Lincoln brand can't survive without the Mercury brand. Folks who may not want (or can't afford) a Lincoln may be happy in a Mercury, which is still a step above Ford (you and I know it really isn't, but still) and that keeps sales within the Ford halo of vehicles. |
