| I am replacing a ceiling fan with a light into just a light fixture. I took down the ceiling fan and I have a black, white, blue, and ground wire. The light has a white, black and ground. I connected the 2 whites, blacks, and grounds (which are also connected to the metal mounting plate) together and I capped off the blue with a wire nut. The light doesn't work like this. Any suggestions? |
| In a ceiling fan, there is usually a separate wire that runs just the light. usually it will be capped off and have a "Light" tag on it. That wire can either be tied into the hot and the light will be switched with the pull chain, or tied into the switch leg from the wall switch to run the light and fan independently. |
