He knows some terms, and claims to be a person who loads ordinance on Hornets in the Navy, laid up in Limdu at the Virginia Q-Deck. When I asked his duty station, he said "Navy." and when I asked him MOS/Rate he told me E-5.
He gave me a general number to call for the Q-Deck and said that's proof, because I can ask them if someone with a hurt shoulder is there? |

Who cares. There is a situation where it is very relevant. I can't demand papers until I know more than I already do. Ah, excuse me then. The guy could be 100% on the level. But something is off. Issues with past employment, claimed to be a full time Network Admin, and now is claiming to Active Duty (which didn't come up until about 20 minutes ago.) |

Im an Ordie and there are a few others here.. Ask him his rate. AO or Aviation Ordnanceman or Ordie are correct. Ask him what IYAOYAS stands for. Every ordie in the fleet knows.. This is where it gets hazy. He knows terms, like he said he's an AO2. However, a quick internet search and I found out the same exact thing. I'll be sure to ask those, though. My problem is he knows terms, but doesn't seem to understand much else. Kind of like how I picked up plumbing terms from my grandfather, but could never apply them in real life. That sort of thing. |
| I really appreciate the help. I can't explain much at the moment, but it has to do with a disability issue and while any other time when such a problem ended up in my office, I'm powerless to disapprove it. But here's a case where I think I can prove wrong doing, and NOT give a leech something they want. |

Most of the posers claim to be a SEAL or Green Beret. The usually don't go for the typical everyday type jobs. He may be getting processed out for something stupid and doesn't want to tell you about it.
Some really interesting characters make it into the Navy. |

Ask him how many bomblets in a Mk 20 Rockeye cluster bomb. Its standard stuff that even an AOAN will know off the top of his head. 247 BTW.. And then ask him the fuel used in A Mk-46 torpedo.. Its Otto Fuel II.. Another easy one he should know without thinking.. |

He may be getting processed out for something stupid and doesn't want to tell you about it. Some really interesting characters make it into the Navy. That very well may be. However this particular character is attempting to swindle something using our company's military service benefits (he worked for GE,) and his "Service" didn't come up until after I denied his first claim. Then suddenly he became an active duty service member. On top of the other nonsense he claimed, I was just sure something was off. Regardless, the paperwork will take care of it one way or the other. |

Ask to see his Military ID and Active Duty orders accompanying it. I don't know about Navy, but Army no longer states AD/Guard/Reserve. You must now show orders to prove your active duty with an ID card. The white CAC card is so hard to forge and is a serious offense if it is, but orders can be easily tampered/forged. But the actual order numbers can be looked up with an inside contact to validate. But I don't think you would need to go that far. Either he is active and has the card and paperwork to accompany, or he claims he "was" in, and should produce a DD214 to back that up. Otherwise he's full of shit.

Ask about his DD214 and see what he says. If he is still in on active duty he doesnt have a DD214 yet. |

When People ask me about my time in the Corps, I just say I was at camp pendleton. |
