I heard a quote a long time ago. For some reason I was thinking it was either Lincoln or Kennedy (yeah, big difference and a big stretch I know). It could be from anyone however.

It had something to do with the rich being a natural product of a capitalist economy and a necessary good thing as they serve as a motivation to everyone else to strive to be the best they can be.

I don't remember the author. I don't remember any specific part of the passage.

I don't think I can be any more vague. I was hoping it might ring a bell however with someone here.

Thanks in advance.

Is it this one?

That some should be rich, shows that others may become rich, and, hence, is just encouragement to industry and enterprise.

"Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built."-Abraham Lincoln

It's funny how few contemporary liberals recognize the fact that leisure is the product of a society that allows and engages in capitalism. And that leisure is what leads to the advancements that make their lives better and gives them the free time to protest what gives them what they want.

Western civilization is mostly the product of white, slave owning, capitalists.

Good quote, especially to those of us who oppose the current trend toward redistribution of wealth.
