Ok Got off the phone with bushmaster. After someone posted in the industry section that bushmaster will release the ACR in late 09 to early 10 for civilian sales. The reason I posted in general discussion is to let more people know and call and let bushmaster know how disappointed you are with them. And maybe get a response from magpul

please stop, these things take time, there are countless hurdles to overcome when bringing a new product out. It will be done when it is done.

Pretty sure they have a reason, and I'd prefer to have it right or not at all.

The Masada should have been out long ago. Now since they dragged their feet and no paying attention to what has been going on in this country we may never get to buy the rifle........

While I am interested in the ACR, I couldn't care less about when it is released. I have other rifles, if I can actually purchase an ACR when it comes out I plan to but I'm not going to whine if I can't.

What motivation would Bushmaster or Magpul have for delaying a product...seriously?

I said some time ago that I believed that Bushmaster would hold off on production until after the election results were in. My reasoning: why tool up for something you may not be able to sell. I stand by that opinion. Bushmaster wasn't starting from scratch on this project, since Magpul had done much of the prepatory work.

There's a big difference between designing a rifle/prototypes and developing the industrial process that will allow you to mass produce that rifle affordably.

Doing it right the first time? Not fucking up? Not having to recall everything off the line? Like said above, do it right or don't do it at all.

I'm not sure how it all worked out... but I hope Magpul already made some money selling this to Bushmaster.

At this point all we can do is to press our congress critters to fight against any possible bans, & hope that the ACR comes out before any ban, or EO, gets enacted.

That's all anyone can do.

I don't assume to know how the whole manufacturing process works.  I'd bet they're working as fast as they can to tap into a market with huge potential.  If they aren't able to get it to market yet, it isn't for any superficial reason.

I'm disheartened though.  I hoped we'd have it soon given the political climate.
