| Did the Japanese field any semi-automatic rifles other then ones they captured? I seem to remember hearing about them but haven't heard anything since then or found any literature on them. Seem to also remember the Italians having a rather funky semi-auto that was overly complicated to use/produce. Any help is much appreciated. |
| Japanese weapons sucked. They were also lousy shots because they were all disarmed until they got drafted. The average Marine rated them as Average to poor shots. They had the typical "bushido" attitude. Kill with a bayo and a wave charge. They didnt issue Smgs and light good MMGs or even Semi-autos in great numbers because they though it was "wasting bullets". Hitlers Blitzkrieg lasted 3 1/2 years before he lost his first battle. The Japanese lost Midway only 6 months after pearl harbor. |

+1 on the Type 5. It was based on captured Garands IIRC From what I've been able to find so far, you are correct. And with only around 250 produced, Its not likely I'm going to be able to find any pictures of this thing haha. Google fu is weak with this one Hopefully this link works http://books.google.com/books?id=Eq2Dnj4sDZIC&pg=PA146&lpg=PA146&dq=japanese+type+5+rifle&source=web&ots=saoBkeJIDK&sig=mkzSpt9Vi-lyK7DwqF-JHqiMak0 |
