Greetings from Alaska.

I just wonder how many of the folks buying guns and complaining about the current political situation actually got off there dead butts and voted.
I have a hunch not very many.
If all this energy was focused BEFORE the election I bet it would have been much different on tuesday.

Regards,

Jim

I'm just wondering about how many that are complaining are actually getting up off their butts and getting involved and joining the Republican Party and the NRA.

Perhaps.  Some here opined that there was no point in voting since there was no difference between the candidates.

As a Republican and NRA lifetime member who voted, and writes letters to my senators and local rep. on a regular basis, I'll complain as much as I want.

I believe the OPS point is that if you did not vote and are not involved you do not have the right to bitch.

Read some of the other threads about Obama voters now going in to buy guns before they're banned.

Voting is one thing, actually having a brain is something else entirely.

As well you should. Obviously my comments were not directed at you.

I figured they weren't directed at me... but the other side to that coin is... what good does it all do?

I've been fighting this battle for almost 25 damned years now, and honestly I'm getting tired of it.  I have come to the conclusion that our elected representatives, once they're elected, really don't listen to the voters.  They don't have to.  They know that 90% of us will blindly vote for whoever has the (R) or (D) after their name, without regard to what they say or do.  They have enacted so many campaign laws that if somebody wants to run for office, the first thing they have to do is come up with enough money to hire a whole staff of lawyers to make sure they don't violate the law.  If you are a member of a major party, it's covered, as long as you toe the party line, otherwise you're on your own.  And good luck with THAT.

Things are going to get much worse now that we have President Handout coming into office.  EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN AMERICA could write that fucker a letter against renewing any assault weapons ban... but I flat guarantee he'll sign it anyway if it gets to his desk.  All we can do, and I'm doing, is write your state's senators and urge them to not back something like that.  I'm insisting mine filibuster any attempt to add that kind of amendment to any bill whatsoever, but I'm really starting to believe it won't do any good.  They'll do what THEY want regardless of what WE want.

Stock up on guns, food, ammo, communications gear, and the courage to die for your beliefs, people, for one of these days soon we might just need them.

Maybe I'm just getting overly cynical and bitter after dealing with this for nearly 25 years, but there you go.

I'm frustrated too. But in honesty, they DO listen to the voters (as evidenced by the blocking of the immigration bill, initial resistance to the bailout, etc...).
The real problem is that so few people actually talk to their reps.
How many of you have met your US Rep? Either of your Senators? State Reps and Sens... You get the point. The farther up the food chain the less impact each individual has, true- that is why people must get involved, get others involved and teach their kids that it is part of their duty as Americans to be involved.
It's time and energy and it's not always fruitful, but if you leave it to others you get what THEY want. Just my .02...
BTW, you can call the White House switchboard and leave a message for the Pres too, number is 202-224-3121.
