What do you think of the idea of instating term limits on every federal elected office? I'm thinking something along the lines of, you cannot serve more than two terms in any one office, and you cannot serve more than four terms overall in any combination of offices.
Obviously, any state elected offices would be up to the state, although I would encourage states to adopt similar policies. I don't know whether the vice presidency should be considered as an elected office under such a law or not. I think it would be a good step towards limiting the number of people who are just in politics for the power, by making it temporary. You know, try and discourage politicians and encourage statesmen. |

I don't support replacing a good person with someone else, just because they were a good person and got reelected. I do. Same here! One 6 year term once every ten years. Ten years after the day you leave office you cab run again but in the meantime you need to get a real job. The government should only be doing a handfull of things anyway so part time politicians will work just fine. All this experience bull shit is a joke! If you can run a business you can run the government as long as it's just doing what it should. |

Nope. You have term limits - called votes. Some good folks need to stay - the bums need to go. Vote them out.
Term limits will have the opposite effect of what you are after in that lame duck candidates are far less likely to listen to average constituents than those seeking re-election. If you are dissatisfied with your congress-critter, get on the ball to have them removed next election cycle. |
