But the price has came down, and the fact that Microsoft will fix (for free) your console if you get the dreaded red ring of death fr 3 yrs. I would say jump back on the console bandwagon |

I have a Toshiba 36" tube tv that I got around 93 will the games today work well with a tube tv? It'll work ok, wont look anywhere near as good as it could though. Big 360 gamer here, I just finally got rid of my tube tv 42" sony. I got hooked up with a 50" plasma, and hot damn, I can finally read the text on the screen, and the difference is night and day. I will work with a tube TV, but when you get it running to a propper TV, watch out. your gonna get leg cramps from sitting too much...

My Xbox is currently in the Microsoft shop right now. I got a disc drive error (wouldn't play any games/movies) and then it got the Red Ring Of Death failure: toasted. I'm not the kind of guy who plays much, either. Very low miles and my Xbox 360 only made it 14 months.
That said, if I was doing it all over again I'd have gone the PS3 route. You can get an 80 gig PS3 for around $399. The PS3 has built in WiFi and a Blu-Ray drive. That may not be important now but when DVD goes the way of Betamax and VHS (and it already is) you'll be ready to go. To get an Xbox 360 with the same features as the PS3 you're going to spend more money on a less reliable product. The WiFi add-on for alone for the Xbox was $100 when I bought one. It was either that or have 100' of cable running from my upstairs modem. No thanks. Cliff Notes: I hear Fallout 3 is the cat's meow. Buy a PS3, Fallout 3 and settle in. I'll buy a copy when Microsoft gets around to returning my 360.

Will the frame rates drop on a tube don't think you'd see anything noticable, I've played cod4 on a crt tv before, although it looked more like ps2/original xbox graphics the frame rate seemed ok. Do you have a newer lcd monitor with any type of hd inputs? I've played my ps3 on my 24" lcd monitor before and it looked alot better then on a tube tv, almost looked as good as it does on my tv. |

So if I got ps3 I could hook a wireless conector in my pc room cable modem and play online in the other room. Yes I'm that outdated on this stuff ![]() Yep if you have a wireless router you can play from another room, and also stream any video files from your pc onto your tv via the ps3, you can do it with the 360 too but like someone else pointed out MS sticks you for another $100 for their wireless adapter. |

I don't see digital taking over for quite a few more years, alot of people still don't have broadband connections and then you have alot of providers with bandwith caps. IMO it'll be atleast another 5 years before it really starts going anywhere. |

Shrug. I'm not invested in one or the other. I still play my 360 on an old SDTV. I'll get around to upgrading to something when it finally gives up the ghost. Tht said I agree that digital media is hot going on hotter but people were saying HD DVD would cripple Blu-Ray...right up to the day before HD DVD went tits up. Time will tell but the fact is that Blu-Ray is currently the standard for HD media. To the OP: Yes, if you buy the PS3 and have a wireless Internet router attached to your cable modem then you can play the games online without running cables/wires all over the house. With the PS3 this device is built in. With the 360 it is a $100 optional upgrade. Buy the PS3 unless you absolutely MUST play Halo 3 or some other proprietary Xbox game. Halo is fun and all but, IMHO, not worth dealing with Microsoft and their shit product. I'll point out to the naysayers that I was singing the 360's praises over the PS3 until just recently. After having my 360 take a shit 14 months after purchase and then dealing with Microsoft's horrible customer service regarding the matter I have changed my mind. Go PS3 and don't look back. If I wasn't so heavily invested in the 360 with games and accessories I'd sell the damn thing on Craigs List, take the hit and buy a PS3. |
| Thanks for all the quick comments. Best Buy is open till 7pm here and I'm on vacation this week. so now I have to decide PS3 or x-box. Games that were my fav on pc were CODUA, BF2 "got tired of patches and lag issues" red orchestra, world in conflict. Cod4 would be good if maps were not so small. |

I got my 360 just over a year ago. It got played a medium amount between my son and I. It got a E74 error 1 month after the warranty expired. That is a graphic chip problem, the solder joints get broken. And I've gotten into the world of Xbox repair hacks. I never realized there were so many problems with the system.
I got it because I love the Halo series and bought mine when it came out. I'm not going to pay Microshaft $100 to fix it. Hell that is 1/2 the cost of the basic system now. But $400 for a P3 might be a bit much. Depends on what you want to do with the system. If you get the xbox get an extended warranty. I can fix mine but it is a PITA. |

I think WiC is on both platforms or it may not have been released yet for console, COD4 is on both, for BF you got BD Bad Company available on both systems. If you go COD4 look for the newer edition it includes a few extra maps that are usually a $10 download from live and psn. COD5 is out in a week and a half. |
