Well hell, he CAN'T get EVERYone, can he? That's a lot of work for a man who's been dead for, like over 200 years.
*******

The thing about natural selection is, it is being SERIOUSLY impeded by Trial Lawyers. Yes, TLs are the most anti-Darwinian force in effect in our society. If some dirtbag hurts himself because he's too stupid to realize that his cruise control on his motor home does NOT control the steering wheel, then that person has no place on the open road. Or any other place in society, for that matter. But if he survives, or if he does NOT survive, the lawyers get involved and sue the hell out of the creator of a perfectly fine piece of machinery, and the costs get passed along to the rest of us... both the direct monetary costs, plus the costs to society that cannot be quantified: the increase of anti-Darwinian activity.
******

The reason I'm a Christian is this: I followed a dude into a gas station one fine hot day and was sitting behind him as he pumped his gas... right hand on the gas pump handle, which was stuck in the side of his car... his ol' lady and 2 kids in the car... his hand moved, from the gas pump handle TO HIS MOUTH, TO TAKE A DRAG FROM HIS CIGARETTE!

I learned 3 things that hot afternoon: 1: God looks out for drunks and fools; 2: Darwin was asleep at the switch when this boy was born; and 3: A '64 VW beetle can lay down some impressive rubber when you want to get away!  (The station was still there, 2 weeks later when I drove by again.)

Darwin's theory of evolution is a great way to explain how plants and animals evolve to better adapt to their environments.

It's not an explanation of the origins of life.

Humans as a species have a problem with natural selection. They always have. We have this horrible thing called compassion and mercy.

For instance, why the hell do I need to wear glasses? I am blind as a bat, and our near sighted ancestors should of been easily picked off by predators or during some sort of battle. This trait should of never been passed down, yet here I stand a Coke bottle wearing mole.

Another example is that we help and assist the handicapped, disabled and elderly. Other species they are just left to die.

If we were able to get rid of campassion and mercy, we would probably be more like the Spartan's in the movie 300. Casting our deformed or imperfect babies off a cliff.

Your point is well-taken. Without compassion and mercy, this human species would annhilate itself; or at least, would not have formed the comfortable level of society that it has. We would be ruled by force, not by law and order.

The problem is that there are those who benefit from perverting 'the law.' They lobby for and create incredibly stupid 'laws' which tend to reduce the average IQ to a level of moron. Keeping those persons alive who make such stupid mistakes as leaving the steering wheel of their motor home while in motion just seems wrong.

Perhaps I AM being too harsh. Perhaps allowing such people to perish isn't proper. But for God's sake, DON'T LET THEM CALL THEMSELVES MY EQUAL!  That is terribly offensive to me!

How does society cope with such people? Should we license EVERY activity? Gun ownership, driving automobiles, driving lawn mowers,  scuba diving? How about voting? If we license voting (or for that matter, ANY other activity), who decides what the criteria are? Do we let the Obama camp decide? If we do, where do YOUR rights go?

This rant is worth no more than 5/5.

All dificulties in a relationship come from the fact you have to communicate with another individual.

The easiest thing to do is point out someone else's faults. The second most difficult thing to do is look in a mirror and indentify your own faults. The most difficult thing is doing something about them.

Ever seen the movie "Idiocracy?"

Natural selection reversed.  Some areas of the country resemble that already.  *coughChicagocough*

I don't believe in evolution but I do believe in de-evolution. I think incest could be an explaination of how the great apes came into being.

The thing is, we have moved past tribal society to where we are now.  Whereas a person with terrible vision was only a hinderance back then, now those problems can be corrected and that person can be as valueable as the next guy.  As we increase technology to augment ourselves as a species, what was once a problem is easily overcome.  I personally see this as a good thing.

As far as Darwin being asleep at the wheel and trial lawyers... shit happens.  While I wish that the guy locked up for 20 years due to his armed robbery charges had died at the hands of his intended victim, it just doesn't work that way ALL the time.  Now the state has to house/feed/clothe/care for that criminal at the cost of almost a million over the course of his incarceration, not even thinking about the cost the state took to prosecute him.

The guy smoking at the gas pump with his kids in the car?  Maybe he knew that the cigarette wouldn't ignite the gasoline or fumes.  Don't believe me?  Put about a quart of gasoline in a coffee can and throw a lit cigarette into it.  He may be taking a risk, he may not be.  You decide, as he did.

Sometimes the smartest and most able people do more damage to society than others.  See Ted Kaczynski.

Survival of the fittest just does not apply anymore, and I am glad for that.  I've been lame more than once in my life.  I might not have survived with a jacked up knee either of those times.  I overcame it, and am now productive.  Those we deem as worthless benefit from the same circumstances we do.  All men (and women, I guess) are CREATED equal.  We do not always remain equal.
