This used to be my favorite channel to watch.  It was full of Modern Marvels and tanks and guns and generally neat stuff.  I flipped it on the this morning to find monster quest, WTF?  The same shit was on last night when I went to bed.  I can think of lots of better things for them to research than a giant lab rat.

WTF?

Their primetime lineup has gone to total shit.  They still play some decent stuff in the late mornings and afternoon, but when evening hits it morphs into the Monster Axe UFO Truckers channel.

They have programming to keep up with the trends.

This monster/ghost/alien stuff is popular I guess.

Went to Gettysburg this past summer after not being there for several years.  Of course the battlefield stuff was still there and great but there was more haunted ghost stuff than I ever remember.  People were buying it up too.

I like Monster quest and alien stuff. Axe men was good and Ice road truckers and tougher in Alaska was real good too. Shows like Modern marvels are ok but if I watch them at night they put me straight to sleep for some reason. I think its the boring mono tone guy that talks through out them.

I don't get the joke with "Butters" but I thought that movie sucked ass. The Alien idea was ok but the movie was just done horribly with stupid cheasy scenes

Agreed, the stations are trying to keep up with what they think people like. It's the same as Sci-fi going totally downhill.

I've been going to Gettysburg for 30yrs now, and had never done any of the ghost stuff. I decided to try out one of the ghost walks for my kids enjoyment. We took one of the original ghost walks that have been around for years though. It wasn't that bad and the kids liked it. So I guess it was worth it.

I totally forgot about that horse shit. I just want to watch big trucks get built, things being mined and the US testing bombs in the Pacific.

You guys forgot "Gangland." The people who run the History Channel now seem to think that if something happened 5 minutes ago, it is now "history" and can be shown on their network. The word has lost all meaning.

Since the other shows are already being pummeled, let me be the first to really bash Jurassic Fight Club.

What a godawful show.  For those who aren't familiar, it is about an archaeologist who goes to different dig sites where dinosaur bones are found in such a way as to suggest violence.  Then he talks about each of the two species of dinosaur for a couple of minutes.  THEN the archaeologist pulls a story out of his ass, which is almost never supported or even suggested by the evidence.
The CGI guys then have some CG dinosaurs act out the ridiculous story.

For example:

In the first episode they find a T-Rex skeleton with some T-Rex teeth marks on the ribs and internal bones.  This is the ONLY evidence presented.

This is the story that they told based on this evidence:

Our dead dinosaur was a T-Rex male.  He is wandering around the forest when he comes across a T-Rex female, who he decides he is going to mate with.  The female rebukes his advances because she already has a baby, who the male failed to notice.  So the male tries a couple of times, gets nowhere, and decides to kill the baby so that the female will want to mate again.  He attacks the baby and seriously injures it, which causes the larger female to absolutely lay him to waste.  The female then EATS THE BABY and wanders back off into the woods, leaving no evidence except the dead male.

Seriously, WTF?  How about the male died and another scavenging T-Rex made a snack out of his corpse?  Why even suggest a fight in the first place?  And the part where it ate the baby was especially convenient to explain the lack of a fucking body.

Sorry, I really hate this show.

Didn't they get bought out awhile ago, and changed their name/programming since then?  I noticed a while ago that it's not "The History Channel" anymore, it's just "History", which apparently consists of ghost hunting and CGI dinosaurs fighting.  I used to love the show because it focused on war history and cool stuff like modern marvels (I miss Mail Call ), but now it's just stupid crap that has nothing to do with history.

Well they also own the Military channel, and the Discovery channel, Animal planet....etc.  Yeah, im sick of the bigfoot, alien, chupathingee...stuff but most stuff the history channel had on got moved to the Military channel and Discovery channel.  They have to fill up time slots some how.  I do agree since the Military channel came out, the History channel blows for the most part.

Monster quest is just no fun.  It would be more fun if the guys who were doing the hunting weren't a bunch of tin-foil-wearing fools who have no more business in the woods than a bunch of first graders.  Their stalking skills leave much to be desired.  And besides, you know they're not going to find anything because if they did it would be a documentary outside of the series.

I once spent a summer drinking beer and hanging out with a guy who was convinced that our little part of the world was UFO Central.  Every Wednesday or Thursday night we'd go out on this one particular road, set up lawn chairs, and wait for the show to begin after it got dark.  Yeah, they showed up all right.  The UFO's were all black, kind of quiet, really freakin' huge, and smelled vaguely of jet fuel or something.  They were super low and going fast.  At the end of summer I broke it to him.  We were sitting on the access road to a GE engine building facility and the planes were most likely coming from Wright Patterson AFB and doing low passes for some unknown reason.  They were freaky looking at the time, mid eighties, kind of like big bats.  Any guesses what we were seeing?  It was fun while it lasted.

He wanted to go look for Bigfoot once but got all upset when I insisted on bringing a 30-06 so we could bag one.

Actually, they are separate. This History Channel is owned by A&E. Discovery owns the Military Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, and a bunch of other Discovery spin-off channels. Discovery is A&E/History's biggest competitor.
