Stood in line for about 25 minutes for early voting at City Hall. The people were mostly old and mostly white. There were a few blacks and very, very few young people.

The demographics for my city are:

Latino 31.2%
White 48.3%
Black 10.2%
Asian 8.2%
Other 1.3%

Median income is $56,000

Median Age is 30

Population is over 190,000

I don't know if this is indicative of early voting, or representative of voting trends in general. I know that "the youth vote" is generally a fairy tale though. I voted a straight Republican ticket, and I expect Texas Republicans to do very well this year. Texas is going to go for McCain and the turnout already seems to be big. I am hoping that my county will be getting a new Republican, NFA friendly sheriff and that we can displace many of the Democrat judges that swept in last time. Senator Cornyn will win re-election, as will my Representative.

There was a bond issue to improve the hospital that I voted for and I broke down and voted against allowing off premise beer and wine sales. My neighborhood is on the cusp of being a ghetto as it is. I can't buy gas without getting harassed by pan handlers and the last thing I want is to attract more winos. Let them go to the next county and buy alcohol. That's what I do.
