Say that i flip my car on a country road.
I dont hit anything besides the road/ditch.
Do i have to call the cops, or can i just get it towed off or tow it myself.

You going to inform your insurance company?  THEY will want a police report, if for nothing else to make sure your weren't ETOH

If you didn't break any laws and there was no damage to public or private property then you have nothing to worry about.

basically if your car flies away.  Although if i was the tow truck driver id probably call the cops myself to CMA, wouldnt want to tow a car for a guy whos drunk and hit 4 children 10 miles back before rolling it.

If you call them too long after it happened they will think you were DUI or had other reasons to wait.

In most places you are required to report an accident if there is bodily damage, or if there is property damage caused by your vehicle. If there isn't any damage, don't call.

That said... my opinion: The local PD would awfully like to know how those new skid marks & scratches on the road got there. Professional curiosity, you know.

Your insurance company won't care about a police report if there are no injuries or no significant damage, especially in a single car accident.  In a lot of places, no injuries transported no report.  Your insurance company is going to want to know about any other property damage.  It often takes 2-4 weeks to get a copy of the report, even if one is generated.  Almost all the payments are going to be close to being finalized by that time.

You roll a car all by yourself and there is no other car involved, or no identifiable other car involved and it is going to be your fault, dui or not, doesn't particularly matter.

In my state you are required to report motor vehicle accidents, even single vehicle accidents.

Its very unwise to call the police to report yourself for such a thing.

The insurance company only needs a police report for theft or hit and run.  Regardless of what many people think, one party being cited in a collision doesnt always result in them being tagged with responsibility by the insurance company.

Well, if he didn't damage any property it wouldn't be an accident then would it?  HIS property counts as "private property" (At least here)

Wisconsin State Statute:
(1) Immediate notice of accident. The operator of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to or death of any person, any damage to state or other government-owned property, except a state or other government-owned vehicle, to an apparent extent of $200 or more or total damage to property owned by any one person or to a state or other government-owned vehicle to an apparent extent of $1,000 or more shall immediately by the quickest means of communication give notice of such accident to the police department, the sheriff's department or the traffic department of the county or municipality in which the accident occurred or to a state traffic patrol officer. In this subsection, "injury" means injury to a person of a physical nature resulting in death or the need of first aid or attention by a physician or surgeon, whether or not first aid or medical or surgical treatment was actually received; "total damage to property owned by one person" means the sum total cost of putting the property damaged in the condition it was before the accident, if repair thereof is practical, and if not practical, the sum total cost of replacing such property. For purposes of this subsection if any property which is damaged is held in a form of joint or multiple ownership, the property shall be considered to be owned by one person.

Of course, YMMV by state and all that jazz

Also, IME the cops usually find out.  They also don't usually take to kindly to you NOT reporting it since it makes their job harder (longer investigation, longer report) you are therefore more likely to receive (multiple) citations. Again...YMMV

You have the option to make a police report.  IF you claim it, they will want a report how ever they can process your claim with out one.  Thats why the ins. companies hire crash investigators.
