A friend of mine just had two seized front calipers replaced at the dealership he purchased the car from. Is he entitled to the core refund since these are rebuildable parts?

As a rule, dealers do not get a core refund. I know my shop doesn't anyway.

I don't kow of any repair shop that would give you a core credit refund.

No.

The core charge is negated by the REBUILT calipers that were put on his car.

That is why they are called EXCHANGE parts.

Nowadays most dealer brake parts have a very low core charge anyway, like $1.

Very few dealer parts have core charges, unlike aftermarket parts stores.

The refund is given for the deposit (core charge) that was paid (left with the seller) when the replacement part was picked up from the parts house.

Your friend paid no deposit thus there is no refund to be paid to him.
