New laptop.  I have installed Canon's codec to view thumbnails four times now (verison 1.2 twice and version 1.3 twice).

It is simply not working.

Help!

Update:  Canon does not make a codec compatable with Vista 64.  Before you Nikon guys get too excited, neither does Nikon.

If you can see thumbnails on YOUR computer: either, 1) you are not shooting in RAW, 2) you have purchased a third party codec [which I have now done], 3) You just think you have Vista 64, or 4) You have no clue what we are talking about.
   Thanks to all who helped....

I just heard from Canon.  They don't have a codec for Vista 64.

I just plug my rebel into my laptop (vista 64), did not install any software.  Pictures folder handles thumbnails.

that doesn't make any sense - the codec should be the same for vista 32 and 64. Are programs like XNView able to see the thumbnails?

OP is using raw, so that will not work.

Well, at least MY Canon can focus on the naked ladies' volleyball team in the background instead of the bug in the foreground....

I'm not sure what you're trying to do.

You can just look at thumbs with Windows Picture and Fax viewer or Media Center on Vista.

Googled Canon raw vista 64 viewer and found the following.  The top one looks good.

Nah, it's a good thing your Nikon is so bluurrryyy, or it would get you banned even in BOTD!!

I had to pay extra for the special Japanese chip that finds nekkidness and locks on instantly....(they call it the "Hugh Hefner" upgrade chip).

After three cameras, I'm done with Canon. They can bite my ass.

(I know this doesn't help, just had to say it)
