I am needing to get some sod for my backyard.  How long does it take to lay sod?  I'd be doing it solo.  I'm probably aiming for about 1,500 sq feet and it'd be in 12 in X 24 in rectangles.

I'm 35 and in pretty good shape.  I'm hoping to do 500 sq feet per 2 hours.

The sod would be dropped on 3 pallets about 60 feet from where I'd be laying them in the backyard, so I wouldn't have to transport them too far.

Thanks

Depends on how smooth a talker you are!

Shouldn't be too bad.  I had a pallet and half delivered and layed it in a few hours.  Make sure you prep the ground beforehand. Makes it much easier when you are laying.

This.
My wife and I layed two pallets of sod in a about two hours, if you are in decent shape, no worries.
If you are in ARFCOM shape, hire some one

Buy it a couple of drinks, maybe dinner if its hot. Couple hours ought to cover it.

When those jobs pop up, I usually pick up a few bums that are holding "work for food" signs

I pile em in the bed of my truck and bring em home.  They do the work while I call Dominos.  Then I crack open a cheap bottle of vodka and let them pass it around.

Load em up and drop em off outside walking distance.  Done.

I did 4,000 sqft myself in half a Saturday, including stopping for water/lunch breaks.
