Civil Disobedience, it has cost the Canadian Government so much money to create and operate the registry, and since a lot of Canadian gun owners in the Western part of the Country refused to register (and law enforcement refused to pursue them), the registry was a complete waste. There is now talk of eliminating it since it is not effective. We could easily accomplish this with any future AWB, seriously, how could the gov prosecute all of us? There are 80 million gun owners in this country, say 5% owned what BO banned. That would be 4 million people to prosecute, aint gonna happen. Some links: Link 1, Link 2 Now I am not sure BO will get any gun control he wants, I believe we can stop any future gun laws in congress with enough calls and letters, the Dems remember what happened after the first AWB. But with all of the gloom and doom here lately, I thought I would point out that there is always a way to fight and no one should ever give up. |
 Yeah well, I am in the camp that another AWB will not be passed, I wrote this more to inform all of the negative posters who insist that on January 20th 2009, Pelosi and Obama will pass a law outlawing anything that holds more than two rounds and has a barrel less than 30 inches. I am more amazed at the number of people on here that just want to roll over and talk about the next AWB rather than fight to prevent one. |
| California lost hundreds of thousands of "assault rifles" when they required them to be registered back in 1999. The compliance rate was in the single digits by some estimates I read. Figure similar numbers nation wide. When the loop-holes are found they'll be exploited by the tens of thousands. |
| Talk like this is just talk, the real way to make change is to take action. When I say action I mean things like writing or calling your reps senators and whomeer your future pres. is. If issues like this are important to you you need to make your voice heard and just joining the NRA is not enough. They may represent you but there are some who will pass them off as a fringe which while not fair is a fact of life. If you have a Dem. in your state/area be sure to contact them especially to let them know what is important to you. You may not like who is representing you but in big enough numbers you can affect how he/she votes on any legislation. |

Note that you said NEARLY everyone. So I guess I was being dramatic about MOST of the people on that thread. However, if you are the one getting ratted out, it doesn't really matter if one person did it or everybody did it. |
