There is a demo.  Go through it, have fun, learn something useful...

I have the retail version.  A great way to learn the basics of precision marksmanship, between the lessons on what a Minute of Angle is, the math for figuring distance using a mil-dot system, etc.

The reading the wind part of the sim is ok, but trust, it doesn't do shit for the real thing.  If you want to learn that, get out and shoot at 600+ like a few F-class or high power shoots.

Keeping that in mind, it's a great program to get your feet wet...

I almost bought the program awhile back after I pretty much wore the demo out.

It really makes you want to do some long range shooting!

Unfortunately I have found that if you can see your first shot, you can always hit your second shot.

Where the bullet impacts, place your cursor there and click and drag to the center of the target.  You will hit every time and score a 9.

I am thinking about buying the full version.  I do not have a clue on using mil-dot scopes, but I would love to learn.  Maybe someday I will have an excuse to get out and do the real thing.........

I got the ranging part down. Its converting that info for elevation with the conditions and reading the wind i need to figure out. I was taught to zero a scope by moving the crosshair to whereever the bullet impact was. I feel ashamed though. I do have a mil-dot scope on one of my rifles but never got around to learning how to use it.

Use the range card.  Drop is calculated in MOA, so that is easy.  Windage is in inches per mph of wind, so you'll have to convert the windage to MOA and multiply by the wind speed.  Wind direction is important as well.  Wind in your face or at your back means no adjustment is needed.  Wind from the side is a "full value" wind, and you adjust the entire calculated amount.  If the wind is at an angle, use 1/2 or 1/4 the wind amount depending on the direction.

MilDots are pretty straightforward but take practice and good knowledge of how large your target is.

Basic yardage:  (1,000 x target size in yards)/apparent Mil dot size.

The initial screen for the practice range, shows a square plate 12 inches on a side.  It spans about .8 Mil on the reticle.

(1000 x 1/3)/.8 - 416 yards.

I dialed in 7.25 MOA on the top turret according to the range card.

The wind is approx 15 mph full value, so I use the wind number for 400 yards to start.  1.2 inches @ 1 MPH is the same as 18 inches @ 15 mph.

18 inches at 400 yards is about 4.5 MOA  Dial in 4.5 MOA left to compensate.

Line up the shot and fire.

Easy as pie.  If you wanted to interpolate the range on the card between 400 and 450 you would be even closer.
