Please tell me about your experience: the good, bad, and ugly regarding SAFECO insurance.

I am considering auto, renters, article policies, and an umbrella policy.

Thanks for the input ahead of time.

My mom and sister both use safeco for auto.  They haven't had anything bad to say about them.  Other than that don't really know too much about them.

I have Safeco auto insurance here in Colorado, nothing to complain about.

I had someone hit me who was covered under safeco.

Pretty slow at claims and hesitant about covering things but they got the job done. My 2 cents!

They are much better to work with now then they were 2-3 yrs. ago. (I'm in a Collsion shop) Getting claims processed and getting ok's is a bit slow.  Average as far as parts usage requirements when doing repairs.  A solid C+ company, at least on my end.

eta: understand that this is from the repairer side of things...may not mean anything to your particular situation.

Just like anything else, you get what you pay for.  Having a knowledgable agent you

can go to for help can sometimes be worth the extra expense of going with a well

known big name company with a solid reputation.

It just depends on what your priorities are.
