| Any published writers here? I'm writing a novel, and would appreciate any info/feedback regarding writing and publishing that you'd care to share. |
Okay. Don't give up your day job. Seriously, it is a profession in which "many are called, but few are chosen." Sort of like trying to be a movie star or a rock star. I don't mean to shoot holes in you. Do it as a hobby if you like. I write for fun too. Just don't expect to be the next New York Times bestseller. EDIT: Why did you dupe your own thread? IBTL! |
Strictly as a hobby. I'd just like to have something published someday. Any insight beyond all the "so you wanna be a writer" resources online? I did dupe myself... haha. I blame my crappy ISP. |

Michael Z. Williamson is a member here. I think his account name is his name or part of his name. He has 8 or 9 novels published. The husband of another author posts here. It MIGHT be Julie Cochrane's husband but I might be way wrong on that one. A buddy of John Ringo's posts here, I know he provided technical advice on sniping but I can't remember his board name and whether he's the husband of the author. Sorry. ![]() edit I was a writing arts major in college (dual major, just had that one for fun). I asked one of my instructors about how she liked being a writer when I was applying to law school. She was well respected and had one several prestigious awards. She said "Are you crazy? Writing sucks, you don't make any money and have to pray you get a teaching job. I wish I'd gone to law school instead." |
