Feedback on my first batch was very good. Everyone said that it was a very complex flavored doppelbock and want more. Two people said that it was better than most of what they get at the bar or store. Currently in the second stage is my American wheat lager. Tastes like Hacker Shore, but without the orange-spice flavor. I will probably convert a six-pack to Raspberry beer for my fiancee and my friend's wife. So for my next brew.....and IPA type lager. Here is my recipe: Tea-bagged grain 30 min at 138degrees, raise to 158 for 30 min, 10 min at 170 1 lbm Toasted Pale Malt 1 lbm Munich Malt 1 lbm Crystal Malt 1/2 oz Centennial and 1/2 oz Columbus hops Pull out grains Add 6 lbm extra light malt Add 2 oz honey Start clock for 60 minutes and add 1 oz Nugget hops at 40 minutes left, add 1/2 oz Fuggles hops at 20 minutes, add 1/2 oz Summit and 1/2 oz Columbus at 10 minutes, add 1/2 oz Erocia and 1/2 oz Goldings at 5 minutes, add 1 oz Hallertauer and 1 oz Tettnanger Using Wyest American Lager, dry hop after second racking, 5 days remaining with 1 oz Fuggles CO2 forced carbonation in keggs. Makes 6.5 gallons. |
