I'm sorry, but the format of that site sucks.

It's the worst forum on the internet. Worse even than DU. We really are spoiled with AR15.com. There isn't a single forum on the intraweb that comes anywhere near what we've got here.

Go back to DU...you seem quite at home there.

I noticed this very thing today.

Their 'forum' is so 1989.  I can't even follow what is going on there.

They banned me the one and only time I posted there.....and the thread was basically just pictures/video of an anti illegal immigration rally I went to. Nothing racist in the post, nothing insulting.

I agree, I went there once.

I love freerepublic.

Every time I get a chemistry problem that makes me feel stupid I just go there.

Funny how I see articles posted on freerepublic, and 2 minutes later they're posted here on AR15.com.

I can't follow their format either and believe me I've tried. I wish they would adopt a vbulletin style board.

Yep, they don't like anyone to post anything on illegal immigration or any other issue that Bush is weak on.  Basically they want you to tote the party line and not actually have a discussion, just everyone falling in line posting how they agree with some post.  Basically it's just like the Democratic Underground, just the opposite side of the coin.  Pretty sad.

I have to agree the format sucks.  If it was more like ARFCOM or even DU, I'd go over there more often.   They've needed to improve it for years now.

Anyone that suggests its worse than DU is obviously a troll.

They are pretty parnoid and ban at the drop of a hat. If Ron decides you are a troll, or just does not like your post, out you go.
The COC is selectively enforced. A cadre of old timers and favorites can be abusive as they want and the rest get the boot at any response. Just as bad as DU in that aspect.

So where are the USABLE and READABLE political forums? DU and FreeRepublic are obscene examples of how NOT to do it, and I'm only talking about a technical perspective.

Have you guys seen Protest Warriors?  "Fighting the left... doing it right."  Kind of a pro-Israel group.  Some really cool posters and t-shirts that kinda hit home.

their format helps keep costs down and profits up on a massive site. similar to how this forum doesn't allow a full featured search.

I think it would still be nice if they switched over to something like vbulliten.

Agreed, a lousy site design, but still a great source of breaking news

I would go there more often as well but their format kills me.

I really think thier format is designed to disseminate information very quickly and efficiently. Not so much to promote discussion, although there usually is pretty decent discussion there.

I don't mind it.

You can get a full featured search, just got to pay for it...

Which I really have to do..

I like freep.

I can also see why some folks wouldn't.

If you are going there to chat or do anything but keep up with the news... You'll probably hate the place.

Sounds quite a bit like ARFcom.  Say something like, "I'm not going to vote for McCain", and see how quickly your "alternate viewpoint" is embraced around here.

You don't get banned for it here.  Try again.

I agree with you!

I TRY to go to some of the other places ('cause I want to at least TRY and be "Well-Rounded") and I get frustrated with their formats.

I dunno, AR-15.com's been using a pretty easy and instictive format for years and I don't know WHY other sites seem to want to send me back to my '486 days (?)
