I never really minded working nights but my dad would constantly complain about how much it sucks.

i never really understood why, until i had a family of my own and then it kinda turns into the biggest drag in the world.

can anyone else relate?

I used to work early mornings at UPS.  Starting at about 2:00 a.m. It was rough at first getting used to the schedule, but it wasn't bad really.

I used to like it when I was single...less bosses, more freedom, but now that I got married I want to work days and have for a few years now.

+1

I worked second and third for years.
Second was best, cuz I could still go out and party and didn't have to worry about getting up for work.
Second sucks for those with families, though.

I did the same thing, but man.... Those hours messed me up something awful even though I kinda got used to it.

Getting ready to go in for 1730 - 0530 right now....where I can at least read AR15, but can't reply.
I find that one of the hardest things is that your sleep cycle never really goes to either nights or days, it sort of stays in flux between the two.
After a strecth of workdays, I'm nearly naturally getting up about 1500 or so, but then you get the days off and force yourself to get up when you are normally sleeping, so that you don't snooze away the usefull hours.
Staying on 100% nights would be a breeze, it's the fighting to be on daytime on your off days that sucks, always flipping from one to the other.
Worst I ever had was years ago on 8s...fri 3rd,get out sat, come back sat on 2nd and get out sat night, come in sun for 1st and 2nd....about killed me.
