Okay, let's try pot again.... I did a thread a while back asking if the widespread use of pot(a crime)reduced ALL of the users "respect" for the rest of our laws, and if legalization might help that problem Now, I'm asking. What are the laws regarding Cuban Cigars, and would the adaptation of those laws for pot make sense and be a reasonable compromise? Of course everyone involved in a wreck or crime would have to be tested.... What says Arfcom? |

Maybe something along the lines of imported pot should be illegal , but domestically produced pot should be decriminalized. That would keep the money from flowing into potentially anti-American nations and keep the revenues here. the Cuba analogy doesn't fit because it's not the tobacco that's illegal , it's an embargo - mandatory boycott of all things Cuban ; besides baseball players..... -JC |
I refer you here: cigars.about.com/od/cubantradeembargo/qt/0062002a.htm and I quote:
Granted, that's not the actual text of the law itself, but it's close enough. It tells me we can't own them. |

My uncle, a Canadian and professor of zoology at the University of West Indies - Trinidad and Tobago Campus, regularly flies into Havana. While in Havana, he will usually buy a few boxes of cigars to the tune of $.05/cigar. When coming to the States to visit us, he'll fly from Havana to Toronto then drive down to Pittsburgh. Those are some freakin' nice stogies! |
As I recall, politicians, diplomats and reporters are allowed to own them. But I cannot substantiate this on the internets. |
That could very well be. I wondered how the people from Cigar Aficionado were able to test Cuban cigars for their ratings every year, since we're not at all allowed to buy them or possess them. Admittedly, this is one area of law that I am not that versed in. But I do know that we in the general public can't have them. I've been having a hard time finding reliable verification, as well in the internetz. |

That explains why people smoke them, |
I've only smoked one, but I like their "aroma" (except the really cheap ones, they're horrible) |
I think he's actually referring to pot being legal in some states for medicinal purposes |
