Draft is tomorrow night. 12 teams in the league.

Anyone care to share their draft strategy, ie what round to pick up which positions in?

I'm drafting right now. I have no strategy, I just pick guys with names that sound cool.

This is my first year doing it.

I'm thinking RB, QB, RB, WR, WR, TE, RB, WR, TE, D/ST, QB, RB, WR, RB, K

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I was thinking about a similar order.

My first year too.

I just printed out a cheat sheet and then used a site to check the first 20'ish players of RB and WR's for injuries or unhappy players.

Depending on the point system your pick may vary but most default push to have RB's as your priority draft picks. Depends on draft # though.

My pick was: RB, RB, WR, QB, WR, TE...etc   With kickers and "sleepers" being last.

Is it a Yardage league or a scoring only league ?
To many teams "Platoon" RBs this year.
Figure the team that you think will be IN the Super Bowl or will make it to the Super Bowl and pick their "Skilled" position players, ala Tom Brady, Randy Moss but the Pats have 3 RBs so stay away from them.
I listen to my Sons alot on Fantasy Football

If you're 1st round, 1st pick you're stupid not to pick LT or Adrian Peterson

Just my $0.02

Other than that, some of my buddies in my league on here, so I won't want to give much up. Buy a fantasy football magazine.

It is highly dependant on your scoring system and league structure.

It depends a lot on your league's scoring.

However, I read a great article on ESPN that convinced me that in general, and especially this year, the best strategy is RB, WR instead of RB, RB in the first two rounds.  There just aren't enough stud RBs to justify taking one in the 2nd round if there is a stud WR.  The PPG difference in a RB you get in the 2nd versus 4th just isn't going to be tiny.

Save K and D for last.  Too unpredictable and not generally a huge difference maker.

Pick one rookie/sleeper that you're going to take a risk on.  AP won it for a lot of people last year.  DMac is not a good choice IMO, but I personally think Felix Jones will have a good year.  MBIII is somewhat old for a RB and he's never been injured or gone through a full season as a primary back...so he's due.

And don't pick a backup TE in a single TE league.  Most people just get whoever's hot off waivers for the one bye week you'll have.

I wouldn't worry about a TE, there are a shitload of TEs out there that will catch a lot of Balls.
There are many that will give you a TD 10 times a year, I look at a TE scoring as a bonus but never rely on them for my team.
Everyone is harping on Dallas Clark this year and I think Peyton Manning will look for DC a lot this year, depending on what Addai does for them.
I have the 4th pick this year, I always liked the 8-10 slot because we have a serpentine draft and I liked haveing 2 picks in succesion, plus I have had the 11th spot the last 2 years and the last 2 years it has been me and the guy that picked
last (12th) in the Super Bowl and 2 years before that it was the 10th and 11th slot that was in the Super Bowl.
I may try to trade my 4th slot for the 8th or 9th slot.

For what it's worth:

NFL all-time scoring leaders, pre 2007 season

Notice anything?

NFL all-time touchdown leaders, pre 2007 season

The NFL's all-time touchdown leader, Jerry Rice, doesn't even make it into the top 20 all-time scoring leaders (207 touchdowns x 6 points = 1242).

I would give some more thought about a kicker, depending on your league rules.

YMMV
