I was bored, so I took some photos of one of my AR's and a few other trinkets. The AR is a work in progress, so bear with me!

Just wondering what the thinking was behind having your broom-handle out so far forward on your rail?

I'm not truying to bust your balls.  Everyone has their own style, and what ever you want to do with your rifle is allright by me

Actually, it feels pretty comfortable to me, and I have long arms, so it kind of works.
There was a really interesting write up about it in tech, and IIRC, it had a lot to do with shooting stance and stability, so it seems to work. Also, when I shoot prone, it feels incredibly stable.

I may move it back a little bit. I've been trying different positions with it.

And yeah, it needs a scope and a few other things. I'm getting a Surefire can, so I'll be needing a different FS soon.

I was thinking you may have been using it as a monopod. (which I may have to try)

I carried my M16A4 with a broomhandle for two pumps in Iraq.  The general concensus among Marines was that the closer the BH is to your magwell, the more comfortable it is to bring to the ready and hold it there for long periods, and your shooting stance didnt have to change much to change mags or perform imediate action.

I also like the fact that the closer it goes to the Magwell, your forearm is more perpendicular to the handguard and you get better bone support.

Either way its all about what you like.

This is how I like mine, when I use one at all.

Also, bear in mind, I like to often not shoot using the foregrip, and just like to hold the hand guards so it leaves a bit of room for that.

Thanks! I've been trying to figure out the length of handguards I wanted to do pretty much exactly what you did. I thought it was 10, but never found any evidence to be sure

Needs to have some signs that its been used, my surefire 6P looks like hell and my AR's have never been thrown down a driveway, but you can definetly tell that they are used several times a week.

Like a monster truck with no mud on the fenders,,,,
