I have been having trouble with firefox recently and am starting to get pissed when I have to restart the computer all the damn time, but I hate IE. Does opera use tabs?

Opera was the first to use tabs IIRC. I've been using it since 2.0.

I use to for the last five years but have moved to Firefox. I use it at work and in neither place do I have issues.

Generally when I start having problems with Firefox (V 3.0.1) I clear private data. To include cookies. To do this you go to tools----> clear private data. check cookies and press ok. Close Firefox and re open.

You can also set up Firefox to clear private data for you, every time you close the browser.
