Looking at them I would say 10 at best!  But then I misjudge 3' people constantly as to thier age.  Who cares!!!! The ittybitty chineese girls will get shot in the head in 3 years when they are no longer usefull. They are disposable like Kleenex. They really can't "Win". They are Chineese. Think about it.. At least out gals are cute, and soon will have a career. They CAN'T lose! S-28 |

I hadn't really watched the Olympics yet this year, but I had them on in the background this evening. The thing that gets me more than their age is the fact that they are basically kidnapped from their homes at the age of 3 and train them for this purpose only - never really seeing their parents except for once a year. It's really not fair to our girls when the state can take these people away and train them for this purpose. They have to take the difficulty to the extreme to beat these gymnastics machines. I really felt bad for the one who fell in the middle of her routine. It was awesome when we beat the crap out of everyone else and destroyed the world record in the swimming relays. Nothing better than to see the flag raised and the national anthem played, especially in a totalitarian dictatorship like China. I know there's a lot of sentiment to boycott these Olympics, and I understand, but sticking it to the Chinese on their own turf is nice.  |

If ya missed something while at work or what not, you can watch the events on NBC Olympics. On another note, gotta vent. Now not to take away from some of the athletes, but badminton, and trampoline? C'mon man, some folks are pushing the limits of the human body, and then there is badminton. |
I agree, but what is the benefit of using a girl that young? Are they somehow superior gymnasts? |
The TV commentators say they're more flexible and fearless. Also, I would imagine their bodies aren't as 'worn out' from the extra 4 or so years of constant training. |
Sure they are at least 16 yrs old...That's what happens when you keep someone locked up in a closet in the dark for years...you tend to regain your youthful appearance... I mean how do you guys think that Dracula and Dick Clark looked like they did for eons?...Its scientific and you guys are showing a little ignorance by not knowing Chinese tradition of how kids fair for the better when you keep them locked in the dark recesses of your home...jeeze! |
I saw a news report where they had a forensics expert determine the age of one of the Chinese girls by recent photographs. It was determined by the size of the girl's head and iris of her eyes, that she was no older than 13-14. The IOC considers it a closed case. I would assume they wouldn't want to embarrass the host country that spent billions to get the games. |
I'll bet if it was the US hosting and we were cheating they wouldn't have a problem calling us out. The whole thing just reminds me of the Olympics in Russia during the Soviet era. It really does. |
They spent lots of money to nurture more athletes in events they don't usually compete in, especially events with opportunities for multiple medals - they cleaned up the lighter classes of weightlifting. That and synchronized diving is a sport now. WTF. |

I caught that last night (I'm bored here in the hotel). If that one girl is 16, I'll kiss my own ass. She's like 12. They said they verified her age with a passport, and all I could think was "...and I'm sure the Chinese government didn't lie on it..." Anyway, we're cleaning house in the pool.

The Soviets pulled the same thing in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. In case anyone is too young to remember, the United States boycotted the Olympics that year, along with many other nations due to Russia's invasion of Afghanistan and other issues.

Sacromone DID choke...she's so cute, I was rooting for her big time. The other thing in that team gymnstics is that the Chinese use specialists for certain, where our atheletes are all-arounders. IMO, the U.S. has the stronger all around team, but the rules of the competition play into the hands of the team that can afford to have specialists, and that is the Chi-coms. And there is NO WAY that those Chinese girls are 16, 12-13 at most. |

Your argument would hold water if the US Olympic Committee was passing out the roids. Marion Jones was an adult acting on her own when she was doping. Marion Jones cheated, not the US. What the Chinese are doing is state sponsored. |
