Ok, so I've been eyeballing and XD for suppressor/daily carry use. I went to the fun shop today and decided to look at the G-19 for shits and giggles. I must say. I love the glock trigger compared to the XD. That, and it's a tad bit smaller. The XD just felt like pulling a sponge. However, when picking up the XD it pointed as naturally as my index finger (ala 1911) while the glock pointed up in the air at more of an angle. Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem with the Glock and if there is any way of fixing this. If there is I'll probably get the glock. Post pics to make me jealous if you want Chris P.S. I carry a 1911 daily but am getting a little tired of the weight. I would like to have the option of something lighter. yeah, I know, I'm totally back asswards here. |

I carry a glock, my wife carries an XD-SC. I keep trying to get her to trade me. She won't. The XD just feels more natural to me, like shooting and hitting what I am aiming at are no effort at all. Almost like it drives itself. The glock feels more like work. Like I actually have to make an effort. More training time would probably fix this....but I really like the XD...like it was made for me.. I would think time behind the trigger would help you with your glock's natural point of aim. It sounds like you are just used to the grip angle of your 1911... |
| Well, the crimson trace is out of the ?. That thing cost's more than a tax stamp! I guess my only real gripe about the XD is the spongy trigger. Well, I hate the grip safety when it comes to trying to lock the slide back. I don't have a problem with the 1911 though. I'm sure that can be cured with a little bicycle tubing or a wrap around rubber grip. Thanks for the input guys! |
I won't buy one, I'm still stuck on all metal pistols. The shot out gun had about 3000 rounds. Every one I've picked up has a sloppy slide - watch the slide climb while pulling the trigger. |

I have the XD 40 Subcompact and it is an excellent piece and my daily carry gun. The trigger on an XD just needs a small amount of breaking in. Springfield recommends dry-firing it a couple hundred times when you get it (don't worry, it won't hurt a thing). I didn't find this was necessary as I broke mine in the old fashioned way. |

Cuz no one in his right mind would trade me that for my SAR-1 that I don't want anymore. That and the whole wanting to suppress it easly thing. |
JMB farted in there once. |

I don't know if you're joking or not |
I think that's what I was looking to hear. Quite honestly, I'm suprised that no one got all butt hurt over me wanting to switch to 9mm from my usual 1911 daily carry. |
I think this is an infidel reference...

Get what works for you. I too have problems with Glocks pointing at the ceiling. The XD trigger does take some breaking in to smooth out. YMMV My daily carry gun is a XD-45ACP. I've put 4 or 5 thousand rounds through it with maybe two or three boxes of factory ammo and 5 or 6 boxes of PD ammo. The rest has all been fairly stout reloads. All manner of brass and bullets. I"ve never had a failure with it. I have no bone to pick about Glocks. They just aren't comfortable to shoot for me. You could do worse than the XD. |
Actually, I think it's quite the opposite |
|
When I went to buy my 45 I was undecided up until I held the glock and the finger molds on the front of the grip didn't fit my large hand so I went with the XD. I have not looked back yet. I carry my XD45 when I have the oppotunity to carry. These two pistols are so close to each other that it pretty much comes down to personal choice. Good luck with whatever you end up getting. |

My carry gun for a long time was a G23, so when it came time to get the wifey a new CCW pistol we went to the gun store to get her a G26. We ended up bringing home an XD9 SC instead and I have since changed my CCW gun to a XD45C. Glocks and XD's are both great guns, just get whatever feels and shoots better for you. For me it's the XD.YMMV |

I prefer the XD as far as the feel goes and it's accuracy for my hands is awesome. However, I agree about the trigger on the XD sucking balls. At least to me, the XD's pull was a lot tougher. All in all, I prefer the XD. But, I may be biased since I'm anti-Glock-hype. Plus, I like to buy American (I know, it's a Croatian Design. Nonetheless. Springfield never fails to deliver.) |

This is not what those who have actually brutally beat the XD in sand, mud, ice, stone, and run thousands of rounds through the XD on trials. StagPower

...or are they waiting outside of the S&W repair facility for their M&P? |
Sure, you can train yourself to shoot it. But a weapon you don't have to fight with is the ultimate winner when deciding what gun is best for YOU. And better in all aspects, how? Because some guys have put up tortures tests on it? I have a feeling the XD can replicate those tests.
I bet you could. DOWN WITH THE GLOCK HYPE!

I shot both and went with the XD 45 . If you purchase an XD make sure and get a recently produced one . Several design improvements have been made on these to correct past issues . Before the Glock guys come out in force about some of the original XDs reliability issues remember that Glocks had their problems at one time as well . That was just long before the internet could have exposed them . As for the Xd's spongy trigger ,keep shooting it . They wear in and shoot much smoother after a few hundred rounds . |
